Tavern on the Green

New York City

The Tavern on the Green is not only one of the most recognized restaurants in the world, but it is also one of the most beloved features of Central Park. As architects, we will perform the most significant restoration and renovation of the building since its original transformation in the 1930s from sheepfold to restaurant. With this restor-ation, Tavern on the Green will regain its status as a special urban retreat for New Yorkers and city visitors alike.

Major capital improvements at the 10,000 s.f. facility are necessary to continue operation as a high-quality restaurant and banquet hall. These include the complete restoration of the existing building; upgrades to existing landscape; new HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems; and a new state-of-the-art kitchen within the current structure, as well as a new two story addition that will provide additional operating space. One of the most significant changes to the exterior appearance of TOG is the replacement of the Crystal Room with a new conservatory.
