Washington Square Arch

The Washington Square Arch was first erected in wood in 1889 for the centennial celebration of George Washington’s inauguration. Our task included the complete conservation and restoration of marble, stone and brick masonry, accompanied by comprehensive structural analysis of the entire arch. Of major importance is the restoration of the interior Guastavino stairs that provide access to all spaces contained within the arch.
