Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico

Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico

The existing 40,000 sq ft building was completely restored with an addition culminating in a 110,000 sq ft museum and education center. The museum provides extensive permanent and changing galleries, with an 800 seat theater, food service facilities, and a great-hall atrium. Completed in the Spring of 2000, this project is a joint venture with The Museum Group, a local architectural firm in Puerto Rico.

In an effort to provide income producing venues within the complex, KAPC also created a five star destination restaurant as part of El Mueso del Arte de Puerto Rico. The concession services based at the restaurant are responsible for catering special events held at the museum as well as attending to the patrons of the restaurant. The restaurant is approximately 2,500 sq ft including a complete catering kitchen and bar area with a 1,000 sq ft outdoor dining terrace.

El Museo is housed in the former Municipal Hospital, a historic colonial structure in Santurce, a suburb of nearby San Juan.
